Bored Ape Yacht Club

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) is one of the most successful brands to emerge from the NFT space. I crunched the data on when collectors bought in, at what cost and their resulting gains. Here are 5 key insights I found πŸ‘‡

1/ The average BAYC holding wallet bought or received its first ape 18.6 weeks (~4.3 months) ago.

2/ 3% of the wallets that currently hold apes participated in the original mint that sold out on May 1st 2021. The BAYC mint price was 0.08ETH, which was ~$236 at the time.

3/ The median BAYC holding wallet spent an average of $12.7k per ape on its BAYC collection.

Note: If a BAYC holding wallet received an ape in a transfer rather than buying it, I assumed it was one owner transferring between wallets rather than a gift to a new owner and used the price from the last purchase event the ape was involved in.

4/ Based on the current floor of 74.69ETH, which is $249k at today’s ETH price, the median BAYC holding wallet has seen a ~20x increase in value on its ape(s).

5/ There are currently 6.1k ape holding wallets. 79% only own one ape. The largest holder is @dingalingts, with 105 apes.
